MYTRAVEL group chief operating officer Philip Jansen has resigned to take over at food service company Sodexho Alliance.

Jansen, who became COO in October 2002 after joining the group as European chief executive a month earlier, has left the board immediately and will leave the group on September 30.

Group chief executive Peter McHugh will take direct responsibility for the UK until the appointment of a chief executive for the UK.

Meanwhile, the group has announced the appointment of former MyTravel US managing director John Bloodworth as managing director for UK tour operations and retail.
