All change on ABTA board

(16 April 2004)

CADOGAN Holidays boss Gary David has lost his seat on ABTA’s board in this year’s elections.

David was hoping to be re-elected for Principal Band B (covering a £9 million-£75 million turnover) but has been knocked out as the second round of voting continues. The battle is now between All Leisure Holidays chairman Roger Allard and Cendant Vacation Rentals Group head of retail sales Julia Slater. Voting closes on April 28.

Voyager Travel boss Sandy MacPherson has stood down as aviation board director. Taylor Travel Worldchoice’s Christine Blocksidge has been elected in Retail Band A (turnover up to £10 million) alongside re-elected Majestic Travel’s Steven Freudmann. ABTA’s aviation role will be filled at the next board meeting.

Personal Service Travel’s Martin Wellings was re-elected to Retail Band B (£10 million-£50 million). Meanwhile, Kinver Travel boss Sue Foxall has won the seat for the Midlands council of regions, formerly held by Wardle Travel’s Doug Wardle.
