Candidates contest ABTA vacancies

NOMINATIONS for ABTA’s board of directors closed last week, with one operator and three retail vacancies being contested.

In retail Band A (up to £10 million) there are seven candidates: Christine Blocksidge, Daniele Broccoli, Sue Foxall, Steven Freudmann, Doreen McKenzie, Ken McNab and Ray Tyler. In retail Band B (£10 million-£50 million) David Powell and Doug Wardle challenge Martin Wellings. In operator Band B (£9 million-£75 million) Roger Allard, Gary David and Julia Slater will stand. Ian Derbyshire, Alan Cornish, David Dingle and John Wimbleton have been re-elected unopposed.

Nominations have also closed for ABTA’s Council of Regions with the Greater London and Midlands regions’ places being contested.

John Dellaway (Major Travel) and Jackie Steadman (Traveltime World) are contesting the Greater London position.

Sue Foxall (Kinver Travel Centre), Ray Tyler (Courtesy Travel) and Doug Wardle (Sandbach Travel) are contesting the vacancy in the Midlands.

Roderick Thompson (Hartlepool Travel Agency) and George Norcliffe (Swindon Travel) have been re-elected to North Eastern and South Western respectively.

Christine Blocksidge (Taylor Travel Worldchoice) has been elected to the North Western Council of Regions.
