Dingle to head up Carnival UK

(17 October 2003)

CARNIVAL Corporation has announced David Dingle has taken on the new role of managing director for its UK cruising division, which includes heading up Cunard's UK sales and marketing.

Dingle, who has been promoted from the role of MD for P&O Cruises UK, takes up the position with immediate effect.

He will continue his responsibilities for P&O Cruises, Ocean Village, Swan Hellenic and the UK sales and marketing business of Princess Cruises.

Peter Shanks remains Cunard senior vice-president Europe, Middle East and Africa but will now report to Dingle.

Carnival executive director Peter Ratcliffe said: "In Cunard Line and P&O Cruises we own two great British brands and we now have the structure to maximise our UK development in the most efficient way."

A Carnival spokeswoman said "in principle" the organisation would aim to develop one sales division covering P&O Cruises UK and Cunard. She added redundancies would be avoided through growth in the business and natural wastage.
