BA brings forward job cuts

(26 March 2003)

BRITISH Airways is to cut 3,000 jobs by the autumn and slash capacity by 5% as the war in Iraq bites into bookings.

The job cuts are part of BA's cost-cutting programme and were originally scheduled for March next year.

Capacity has been taken mainly from BA's transatlantic routes and will result in approximately 132,000 less seats available during April and May.

Suspended flights include a daily Heathrow to New York service and one daily Heathrow to Chicago service.
