Fontenla-Novoa bags top job at Thomas Cook

(31 January 2003)

THOMAS Cook managing director tour operations and distribution Manny Fontenla-Novoa has been appointed the new UK chief executive.

He has replaced Alan Stewart, who has held the post since April 2001 and becomes a non-executive director of the UK business until he leaves the company in June.

The changes are a result of a review of the group, which will see the German head office take on a larger strategic development role.

Meanwhile, the UK will concentrate on its trading and financial performance and customer delivery as one of the group's 18 markets.

A UK restructure will be announced within two weeks.
