passenger numbers increase on UK ferrys

(22 August 2002)

PASSENGER numbers on UK ferry routes increased 5.2% in the first seven months of this year compared to 2001, according to research company Ferrystat.

In total almost 16 million passengers travelled by ferry between January and August. Passenger Shipping Association director Bill Gibbons said this shows the UK ferry industry has recovered following the loss of duty free and foot and mouth disease.
