BMIBABY has sold 10,000 seats during its first week of sales from Cardiff International Airport.

Bookings for flights from the low-cost carrier’s second base were opened on July 27.

Bmibaby managing director Tony Davis said: "There has been a tremendous response to our new services and we have also been inundated with applicants who want to work for and be a part of the low-cost airline of Wales."

Davis said seats to Alicante and Malaga are proving popular with domestic services also selling well.

From October 27 Bmibaby will fly from Cardiff International Airport to Alicante, Belfast International, Edinburgh, Geneva, Glasgow, Faro, Malaga and Bergamo, Milan. It is awaiting approval to fly from Cardiff to Jersey.
