Virgin Travelstore reveals on-line sales rise

(31 May 2002)

VIRGIN Travelstore has revealed 35% of all sales now occur on-line, up from a mere 5% one year ago.

The agency, which also has two high street shops, a call centre and presence on Teletext, claims that flight bookings were up 300% in January compared to January 2001.

Virgin Travelstore managing director Peter Davies said: “We believe our growth is not only due to our competitive deals on flights and holiday packages but also thanks to extra website features like virtual tours, destination searches and mini guides that allow on-line users to gather more information and view images of destinations that they are booking.”
