ABTA HITS BACK AT INSURANCE CLAIMS

(30 May 2002)

ABTA has hit out at a MORI survey that accused agents of forcing consumers to purchase holiday insurance when they book their package.

The Direct Line Insurance survey also claimed agents presented insurance as part of the package and charged high cancellation fees.

ABTA head of legal affairs Riccardo Nardi said: “Agents can refuse to proceed if the client doesn’t have insurance because they leave themselves open to claims.”
