(25 April 2002)

P&O PRINCESS Cruises has revealed a pre-tax profit for the first quarter of the year was $27.1 million, a 43% increase on the same period last year.

Costs were reduced by 11% while operating profit went up 29.9% to 42.2 million.

Chief executive Peter Ratcliffe said: “Given the disruption to our bookings from the events of September 11, this is an excellent result.”
