swiss and american airlines in codeshare tie-up

(26 March 2002)

AMERICAN Airlines and Swiss, the carrier formed to replace Swissair, have entered into a codeshare agreement.

American will put its AA code on Swiss’ eight flights between Switzerland and seven US gateways and on Swiss flights beyond Zurich to points in Europe, Africa and the Middle East. This service will be on the combined network of Crossair’s existing European regional operations and significant portions of Swissair’s former intercontinental and European trunk route system.

In turn, Swiss will place its LX code on American’s two daily flights between Zurich and its US gateways of Dallas/Fort Worth and New York Kennedy and American flights to a range of destinations within North America, the Caribbean and Latin America.

The agreement takes effect from March 31.
