Jarvis first half profits down

(20 November 2001)

JARVIS Hotels has reported half-year profits down 30% from £17.6 million last year to £12 million this year. Turnover was also down from £90.2 million to £95.1 million.

Occupancy levels were down from 73.6% to 70.2% due to the downturn in the hotel industry caused by September 11 while the average room rate was up from £51.73 in 2000 to £53.72 this year.

But it was not all doom and gloom as Jarvis's UK central reservations office achieved record sales in October and bookings for Christmas and new year are up on last year.
