End of road for Thomson sales teams

(26 October 2001)

A NUMBER of Thomson sales staff face redundancy as the operator streamlines more of its specialist holidays group.

At least six people will be affected as the group centralises its sales teams and reduces the number of travelling sales staff it employs.

The six are: sales manager ski and lakes Chris Larrow, group sales development director David Drake, sales executive south ski and lakes Jane Dorkings, sales executive north ski and lakes Paul Sapsford, sales executive south short breaks Kay Weedon, and sales executive north specialist sun Jackie Collin.

Specialist holidays group managing director Kevin Ivie said the changes will increase efficiency.

“There is the potential for some staff to be displaced, but we are in a consultancy period to find them alternative roles in the specialist holidays group, Thomson Travel Group or even within the Preussag group. It’s premature to say they will all be released.”
