EXPEDIA has expanded its European operations and launched websites in both Italy and the Netherlands.
The sites will concentrate on selling accommodation at tour operator rates and will feature on-line bookability. Unlike Expedia’s other regional operations, neither website will sell flights.
Expedia.co.uk managing director James Vaile said the on-line agency had done research, which found there would not be a major market for flights in either country.
Expedia now operates in five European countries: the UK, Germany, Italy, the Netheralnds and a joint venture in France with rail operator SNCF.
The Dutch website can be seen by going to www.expedia.nl and the Italian version by going to www.expedia.it.
