CAA call ATOL bond as Sunscape stops trading

Report by Lydia Wilson

THE CIVIL Aviation Authority has called the Air Travel Organisers Licence bond of Greek Islands specialist Sunscape Tours Ltd after it ceased trading last week.

Surrey-based Sunscape, which traded as Airsun Holidays, Airsun Travel, Sunscape Tours, Sunscape Holidays and Sunscape Travel, left 170 passengers in Greece and 448 prospective holidaymakers facing a cancelled holiday.

The CAA called an ATOL bond of £146,370 and all 170 people are being flown home on their original departure date. Those passengers with forward bookings are being advised not to go to their departure airports, but claim a refund from the CAA.

CAA deputy director David Moesli said: “All customers were taken care of so that they had no disruption to their holidays.”
